It locks out the top gear, so the box doeesn't hunt for gears.

I could just drive in 4th, which would lock out overdrive, but don't
do it unless I'm towing in a pretty hilly situration.

It's better for the transmission to lock out overdrive anytime you are
towing.

Since my towing capacity is about 16,000 pounds, I will only put the tranny
in tow haul mode when in the mountains. Even not towing, I use the tow haul
mode for engine braking in the mountains. Was nice coming over Sonora Pass
a week ago, to not use the brakes much coming down off a 9600' pass.

Cruise control does not work for me on the interstate or anywhere

I'd rather just shift when I want or let the speed drop going uphill
and pick it back up on the downside. Truckers love it.

Are you sure you can't disengage your O/D?

Well, putting the transmission in 4th definitely disengages the O/D. I
don't have a separate button somewhere to do that. Of course, it may
be hidden under the dash somewhere!

No cop will stop you for 74 in a 70 but many will write you for 77.
Told the wife that continously for an hour before the first cop to
come along pulled her over.

I've just been lucky all my life. Usually, 10% over the limit keeps me
in the slow lane around here.

Yup, here too...

With a cig in one hand and a drink in the other. That is what
autopilots are for.
