No cop will stop you for 74 in a 70 but many will write you for 77.
Told the wife that continously for an hour before the first cop to
come along pulled her over.

Here in Georgia, it's known that the newer laws say that you must be 10
over to get a ticket. They did that so that there wouldn't be any speed
traps set up by little town cops. SO, everyone knows, everyone drives 10
over!

Around here they don't bother unless you are over 10 miles over the
limit. It's an unwritten agreement.. The news has even reported on it.
Start getting above that, they will pull you over, but sometimes not
depending on circumstances... I generally drive pretty passively but
sometimes take off a bit. Now, try running your boat a mile over the
limit, on the CT River and then you will see strict, just ask Wayne
grin... I think it was Wayne.

Cruise control does not work for me on the interstate or anywhere

I'd rather just shift when I want or let the speed drop going uphill

Our truck, a Navigator, has a button on the end of the shifter lever.
It locks out the top gear, so the box doeesn't hunt for gears.

I've just been lucky all my life. Usually, 10% over the limit keeps me
in the slow lane around here.

I could just drive in 4th, which would lock out overdrive, but don't
do it unless I'm towing in a pretty hilly situration.

It's better for the transmission to lock out overdrive anytime you are
towing.

I always lock out the OD on my 4Runner while towing, and drive in 4th.
If there is a hill, I usually will manually downshift the auto
transmission to third to avoid lugging.

We've never been stopped for speeding on the CT River but have seen a
number of other people get nailed, especially in that stretch between
the railroad bridge and the highway bridge. The water cops have a
very innocent looking older cuddy cabin runabout that they hide out
in. We once had a DNR boat shadow us for about 10 miles further up
river in the Middletown area but we were being *very* careful.

Anytime I'm in a situation where I can't accelerate, I'll drop it into
4th. On the flats, or long downhills, I'll put it in 5th.
