We need new leadership - other than Palin or Gingrich in 2012. Here's hoping someone rises from the ashes.... Gingrich has risen from the ashes. That's your plan? Have you ever heard the hope is not a plan? What could be funnier than the frontrunners for the 2012 GOP nomination being Newt Gingrich, a retreaded congressman with serious ethical issues, and Sarah Palin, a simple-minded, ignorant woman whose intellectual gaffes are emblazoned on hours of "HD" videotape? Bring 'em on... It's embarassing these buffoons could be put forward by one of the two US policial parties to be leaders of our country and the free world. A joke is putting it kindly. If Palin or Newt are the only choices in 2012, might as well go for the Libertarian candidate; certainly not for the Messiah and his hand puppet. That'll put you squarely in the losing camp. I'd start searching high schools for who may bring some ideas and value to the party by 2016. |

Granted, the Iranian hostage crisis, rampant inflation, and a few scandals in his cabinet had their effects. It's a long time to 2012; plenty of time for stubbing one's toes. Iran and Israel/Palestine are still to be dealt with. North Korea is a thorn in any president's side. The economy is not improving, and by 2010, voters are not going to be blaming Bush any more. |

Good memory about out Carter. Many forget the wider situation. Think there was a "gas crisis" in there too. The point about it being "Obama's economy" is likewise on target. Look's like it's already happened. A while back Eisboch took issue with me blaming Reagan for my being laid off during the worst economy since the depression, and for saying that Obama will likewise take the fall soon into office. Look's like Richard had jumped aboard. Knew he was sensible. --Vic |

Johnson No, I'll be blaming Clinton for getting a bj. Otherwise, Gore would have been president and we'd have avoided the stupid cocksucker and his maniacal pseudo dad. |

They've nothing else to hope for...since they and their party are bereft of ideas, solutions, anything. Sarah Palin...the great white GOP hope... snerk -- The modern GOP is little more than an army of moral absolutists led by a gang of moral nihilists. |

Same with the Grinch. Eisboch Exactly right. Independent voters are a fickle lot, though they tend to force R's and D's to find a rational center. Krause and his ilk write like they are on the front end of a long reign in Washington. Unless Osamabama delivers, they will be wondering what went wrong, and a lot of D's in Disneyland on the Potomac will be looking for work in 2010 and 2012. An old adage is appropriate he "May my words be tender, for I may have to eat them later." Lu Powell said that. |
