Default New Internet Term

My mum some time ago coined the word "incomputerit", and claimed to
suffer from the affliction. She - born in S Africa and now suffering
from Alzheimer's - keeps telling me that Nelson Mandela's mother could
not write and so sees no need to be cured of the affliction.

I have seen "incomputerit" in the press since.

Hi Folks,

Since we're all dyed-in-the-wool net users here, something happened today
that I think you all might appreciate.

In fact, it lead to an unusual bout of literary creativity. I believe that
I have created a new word.

My wife's grandmother is fond of forwarding every chain e-mail she receives.
There's no stopping her-- no matter how many frauds are exposed, no matter
how many times little Josey White has been found. She just can't help
herself.

Hence the new word (I think it's new). I've decided that she's a "spam-ma".

Anyone else with a similar experience? Inquiring minds would rather know
about that than Timmy's latest exploits.

Yup. My mom, and another elderly woman.

Default A Spam-ma and a Spam-pa!

HI Folks,

Two words!

Uh, did I mention that we're in a drought out here, and the frat boys have
taken over the beach next to the play wave on the Salmon?

Your wife still has a grandmother? Who at her age uses a computer?
That is unusual in itself. My grandma has trouble with telephones.

An acquaintance noted that he received the same e-mail jokes in waves,
as his non-computerized friends joined AOL, some random ISP, then WebTV.
For instance, how many times have you seen the Woman vs Beer joke?

Yup, there are six kinds of people who forward stuff indiscriminately:
1. people just discovering the wealth of jokes and information
2. people who are too lazy or depressed to write for themselves
3. people with poor memories who can't remember reading it before
4. people who think anything on the Internet has to be true
5. alarmists who don't have cable TV and thus miss Faux News
6. people who like telling alarmists it's just an urban legend
