Those little yankee sailors sure got buzzed on a few local beers. Most

Alcohol laws vary by state, and are a real mish-mash here. Some states
only allow 3.2% beer by weight (equals 4% alcohol by volume). Some
states only allow 3.2 beer to be sold in grocery stores, but allow higher
alcohol content in "full service" outlets. In many states, higher
alcohol content isn't considered "beer". It's labeled malt liquor or
ale. Then you have near beer, dry counties, etc. Weird laws.

One of my buddies from Finland brings me a six-pack of beer when he
visits the USA. I don't know how he gets it through the idiots running
airport security. Anyway, it has a very high alcohol content. As in...wow!

I don't know if it is still true but you used to be able to get a mixed

One of the oddest I recall, in Texas, it was legal to drink and drive.
You couldn't be drunk and drive, but you could have a beer as you were
driving down the road. Texans, independent sort that they are, figured
it was a God given right to have a cold one after a hard days work.

Used to be that way in Florida, too. Almost all bars had drive through
windows where you could get a beer, or a mixed drink in a plastic cup.

I will admit to having **** beer prior to the arrival of micro brews

When I was in Boulder I toured a micro. They were about the only one
anywhere with bottles, not just barrels. Paid fifteen grand for the
machinery which broke down about every ten minutes. Much more time
working on it than running it.
