Inauguration - Here's the deal...
Just reported on local TV. According to current estimates of the number of
people who may end up on the mall, and the number of porta-potties on the mall, there will be one porta-potty for every 6,000 people. I don't think they'll be selling beer on the mall. Bring an empty plastic bottle. Carry it in your hand, 'cause backpacks and large purses won't be allowed. |

Gee, and I was going to be on the lookout for you and for Herring...you in the crowd and Herring in the ambulance, on his way to the hospital after suffering a stroke. :) Bathroom anxiety certainly is a concern, but fortunately, several unions within a couple of blocks of the Capitol are having an open house and...more important...access to bathrooms... :) |

Eisboch Well, you probably will need a union ID. That's what the unions do during legislative meetings...you can't get in without some sort of appropriate ID...but with two million souls on the mall, it could easily get out of hand! :) Being the 56,723rd person to climb into a porti-potty on the mall is a scary thought. Getting out of town is going to be a bitch, too. The only good way is to wait for the crowds to thin out a bit and then head for a metro station not well known to the touristas. |

I've lived in the DC area, Fairfax County, Virginia or Montgomery County, Maryland since July of 1971. I've been to the Mall once for 4th of July fireworks and never for an inauguration. The one time I went for fireworks it was on my motorcycle, easy in, easy around and easy out. It's just too damn cold to go for an inauguration. |
