I have been told that this is due to a stuck solenoid or that I need a new or rebuilt starter.. Is this accurate information? thanks, Bill Their's really not enought information to figure out what's wrong. When you turn the key does the starter turn, but not grab. If that's the casr the solinoid is suspect. When you turn the key, if nothing happens until you hit it you could have a dead winding if it happens occasionally , or the commutator could be dirty of the brushes worn. If you just get clicking when you turn the key it could be the solinoid or low voltage. Your best bet, bring the starter to a place that rebuilds them. Tell them it's a marine unit so they use the correct solinoid. Then cleal all your connections from the battery terminals, to the lugs. Make sure your connections are all tight and you should be just fine. |
