I have a 2001 18 ft Fish Hawk center console with a 150hp Johnson that I
can't get started. I am trying to get it out of the water to take to have some work done on it but I cannot get it to start. Turn the key, and nothing happens. Nothing happens when I try to tilt the motor up either. The bilge pump and other accessories work just fine. I have limited knowledge of this type of stuff so any help would be appreciated. I think it's probably something pretty simple ie. a bad connection or relay or something but I really don't know. Thanks for any help. Bud |

Bud Sounds like the electrical connection or ground to the motor is missing. Learn a little about electrical trouble shooting, as something may fail far offshore, and leave you with out power to the radio. Learn to use a Voltmeter or trouble light (preferably a volt0ohm meter). Test between ground at the battery and the positive cable connection to the motor for 12 volts. If true, test from the positive connection to bare metal of the motor case and see if still 12V. If not, check to the ground wire to the motor. If no 12V in the first place, look at the end of the positive cable away from the motor. Just follow the wiring back to where you have power. Then what is inbetween the power point and the no-power point is bad. Bill |

I had a similar problem with my 75 horse Evinrude. The problem ended up being
the "yellow" wire on the power pack which was grounding out and not allowing 12V to flow through to activate the starter. Replaced the wire and she fired right up. Not sure if you have the same problem, but worth a shot. |
