Hello all.
At the end of last season (Oct 2002), I bought a new battery for my Uniden HH980. I installed the battery in the handheld and left it in the (unplugged) desk-charger all winter. When I took the radio out for this season, the negative terminal on the battery was discolored and appeared to be leaking a bit. I plugged the charger in and the radio appears to work fine. I only keep it as a backup to a fixed-mount VHF, so I don't use it that much, but I'm afraid the battery is ruined. Do you think this is the case and could this have been caused by leaving it in a cold charger for several months? Thanks for your replies. Dave |
