Default What is an anchor for?

To my way of thinking..an anchor is to secure a boat to the bottom of
the sea in such a way that it stays there as long as the crew of the
ship wants to be there. If the ship is dragging the anchor, proper
seamanship suggests that the gear be reset until it holds..anything
else is not what the man wants.
Tom..and I have dragged a few times
