That way, working the engine against the anchor, you have good control even in a breaking sea and can get off even if the engine/prop get damaged. They were not bothered by conditions so could take a few liberties. But they are fast and have weapon mounts... In Wales, Boyo, the CG and RNLI don't carry weapons. There is some doubt about the RN too.. Joe |

We use to have a fleet of 44's that could do the job without such rigging before rescue. I'm a fan of the 44's for sure, Saw one converted to a liveaboard not long ago.. He also goes out for towboat when they are scared and underpowered. http://www.44mlb.com/art-gallery.htm But they are fast and have weapon mounts... Now they all sport machine guns and side arms. http://www.warshipsifr.com/terrorism_special13.html Which is good, unless they are checking to see if you have lifejackets and you call them a bunch of brown water puddle sailors ;0). I know the ouboards on the RNLI Atlantic class are modified so that they can be restarted after capsize but I don't know whether the intake shutoff system would prevent swamping or whether your CG have a similar system. http://www.rnli.org.uk/who_we_are/bo...rent_lifeboats We use to have a fleet of 44's that could do the job without such rigging before rescue. Free rescue/towing and no salvage claims from the RNLI. |
