The 'standard' technique over here is/was.. to drop the hook if it is
at all tricky and back in. That way, working the engine against the
anchor, you have good control even in a breaking sea and can get off
even if the engine/prop get damaged. They were not bothered by
conditions so could take a few liberties.


But they are fast and have weapon mounts...

In Wales, Boyo, the CG and RNLI don't carry weapons. There is some
doubt about the RN too..
