Default Taking the Frybrid plunge....

Ok, having filled the diesel stepvan with $80, again, today, I've
completed the research phase and cost/benefit analysis phase. I can now
justify to convert one of my land vehicles, my 1989 Chevy 6.2L V-8 diesel
stepvan to run on used oil from the local restaurants I've already been
schmoozing and grooming to cooperate. I've also decided the best of the
conversions looks like it will go to Frybrid (www.frybrid.com) out in
Seattle. I simply like the look of their heat transfer system to bring
the oil up to temperature and their microprocessor-controlled environment
much better than the others I've researched.....

I consider this ontopic for r.b.c because this will make a great testbed
to see if it would make MARINE diesel conversions on small cruisers and
powerboats functional.....We'll see.

If you haven't perused the webpages, they are on:
http://www.frybrid.com/

I was going to convert the Mercedes 220D sedan, but can't justify the
$2000 as it uses so little fuel, anyways. The Chevy beast is another
matter, entirely. Frybrid already has a successful Chevy V-8 diesel
Suburban installed and running great:
http://www.frybrid.com/sub.htm

There's lots more room for conversion equipment and tankage in the
stepvan beast than that Suburban has. My truck mechanic will install it
with great interest in doing other conversions.

There's already 85 gallons of used vegetable oil quietly settling in 5
gallon plastic containers in my storage shed to precipitate the food out
of. I'll be ready for "fueling" when it happens.....(c;

Those marina restaurants might take on a more significant importance in
the near future. Every Hardee's burger joint uses 7 gallons per
DAY...fuel going to waste! I can easily collect 500 gallons/month close
to home.
