Many states require you to "register" a documented boat with the state,
but no
state can require a registration number that must be displayed as they do
with a
boat that is not federally documented. They may require a decal showing
that
you have paid the state taxes and fees.

So, what you're saying is that you don't know anything about IL and FL.

Are you implying that IL and FL require registration numbers be
displayed on USCG documented vessels?

They may call it 'ant and roach spray' but it sure does a number on
birds if you spray them with it long enough.

======================================

No numbers, just decals/stickers. It's the same amost everywhere.
About the only thing that changes between states is the number of
stickers and display location. Sometimes the state registration
number is on the sticker in tiny type.
