wrote: Are you implying that IL and FL require registration numbers be displayed on USCG documented vessels? ====================================== No numbers, just decals/stickers. It's the same amost everywhere. About the only thing that changes between states is the number of stickers and display location. Sometimes the state registration number is on the sticker in tiny type. |

Your documentation number is the only "registration" number, and it is not posted on the outside of the boat. If there is a serial number on a certificate of decal issued by a state, it is not a registration number. ========================================= Well you are at least half right on that one, possibly 100%. I just took my flashlight and walked down to the dock. My 24 ft cuddy is registered with Florida and the number on the bottom of the sticker corresponds with the reg numbers beginning with FL, same thing with the dinghy. The GB49 is documented, and has a series of numbers on the bottom of the sticker beginning with a "D". Tomorrow I will check to see if the numbers on the sticker match up with my doc number. Stay tuned. |

It means I don't have to have 3" numbers on the port and starboard bow *in addition too* the small sticker. Looking around SD bay, you can tell the documented boats a mile away...they don't have big numbers plastered all over them. Keith Hughes |

Can you imagine the uproar if people had to do that to their Lexus or Jaguar? Lexus or Jaguar hell. I don't want that on my boat, *or* my Volkswagens! :-) Keith Hughes |
