Default Bargain Air Compressor for Hookah Dive Rig

Looks like it should do the job at a very reasonable price:

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00198PWM8

They also have 50 ft of hose for $20. With a 10 ft length of "heater
hose" from Brownie and a low pressure scuba regulator, you'd have a
complete rig for a little over $300.

How do you suppose this and the connectors will hold up in a marine
environment?

"Believe me, my young friend, there is *nothing*-absolutely nothing-half so
much worth doing as simply messing, messing-about-in-boats; messing about in
boats-or *with* boats.

In or out of 'em, it doesn't matter. Nothing seems really to matter, that's
the charm of it.

Whether you get away, or whether you don't; whether you arrive at your
destination or whether you reach somewhere else, or whether you never get
anywhere at all, you're always busy, and you never do anything in
particular; and when you've done it there's always something else to do, and
you can do it if you like, but you'd much better not."

Quite a few people over here have bought an all plastic Australian
made rig - compressor, header tank, hoses and regulator, all in a
fitted case, for a thousand dollars, U.S. Others have built their own
from an aquarium air pump, local hardware house plastic hose and a
scrap SCUBA regulator.

It appears that they both give about the same service for cleaning the
bottom, etc. :-)

I have a small Thomas compressor on board, about the same size and
overall quality. It has held up OK even though stored under something
less than optimal conditions. I keep all of my dive gear in a
plastic storage box with a semi-watertight lid. It all gets stowed
away in the transom lazarette which is very hot and humid at times.

The heater hose has a plastic quick connect on it, the output of the
compressor is brass, and the connector to the low pressure regulator
is stainless steel. No problems with any of that.

Uhhh, has anyone stoped to ask how clean the air is youre breathing as
in Have you sent off an air sample?

Now I may not be the one to be posting on this topic cause Im sure
yall kno a lot more than I do about this sorta stuff. Lets see:
sport scuba age 12. re-cert about every 10-15 years for the fun of it.
6 month commercial dive school 198X (DIT)
Im also an current licensed Hyperbaric Life support Tech too. Its
always handy to know how to operate a recompression chamber and be
able to treat presure related injuries.
3 years GOM oilfild diver
5 years harbor diving
1 year Fiji commercial free dive spear fishery
Recently 1.5 years as AB on a 4 point dive boat for the the number one
dive company in US.

Diver air supply hoses (and other components) are made with specific
materials to not off gas bad **** when under preasure. Plastic does
wierd **** when put under preasure or heat. Unless specifically labled
as Diver Air Supply its a crap shoot. IDK Im jsut some dick. Besides I
also buy organic vegies too but I guess for tuff guys like Joe and
Skip organic petro chemicals in thier lungs dont matter much. As like
every dum coon ass says, "hehl braa were all gona die som time. what
ya gona do walk around wrapped up in bubble wrap all ur life! "

Equally you should also consider the air system's components: washers/
o rings, never sieze/lube on those quick disconnects, hose lube used
by chineese hose manufacture. You do remember to blow down your hose
before and after every use. Do you cap off each end of your house.
There are some nice red plastice "hose caps No. 6 & 8" but duct tape
works well keeping spiders and crap from finding its way into your
hose. Ya wouldnt want some spider in ur hose to foul that demad stage
regulator when ya got ur hosev fould on the prop preventing you from
escaping the dark grasp of Neptune Rex. Not to mention the
complontents in those ****ty little paint/utility compressors. It jsut
aint about "oil less" Id rather breath off a good Quincy (oil)
compressor than any of those chineses "oil less" comprssors you guys
are using.
Just think chinees dog food, baby formula, the lead in coffee cup
glaze, and children's toy paint.

Good luck boys and breath safely!

Bob

Have you ever known anyone who died of drinking coffee from a lead
glazed coffee cup. Or can you tell the difference between lead glaze
and other types?

As far as your "organic" veggies.... Can you go into some details of
the difference between nitrogen absorbed from fertilizer made from
methane gas and that absorbed from horse ****?

Cheers,

Bruce

Simple!!!! Look at the price. No fertilizer, no weeding, no
spraying, DOUBLE the price!

The issue isn't fertilizer as much as the use of insecticides.
