Having read these post, asked questions, and gave my opinion here for
a few years I can now say that RBC is just about the same pace
altrecsailing was a whiile ago. Ugh........

Lets see: jews... Obama...etc

How about a litle self restraint replying to the political trolls. id
rather have no new boat posts than the dribble i see now.

This was once a grand pace to share and learn. Now near worthless.
Hell even skip hasnt posted lately.

I figure the storm will pass. its winter and most are locked on land.
so politics seems a way to vent.
I am just getting a couple SOF kayaks and one SOF skiff ready to
build. and lofting a 30 foot sampan also to start building before the
spring hits. not much going on here in oregon at the moment as far as
cruising.
mostly sitting by the fire and working on projects to long sitting.

Self restraint seems to be way out of fashion these days, Bob.

That's not much in evidence that people even know what that means.

Damned shame too.

I guess it's true...

Only if you let them. The trolls are well-known. It's relatively easy to
ignore them, as only someone who's guilty of not doing that can claim.

Going to check out my boat today.. I haven't seen her in a week.

Alas, my boat is on the hard, a few hundred yards away from water that is
equally non-liquid. Everything here is under anywhere from several inches to
several feet of snow, with the earliest possible sailing still at least
three months hence.

Toying with trolls isn't quite a substitution for sailing, but it'll do in a
pinch.

The problem, dear Brutus, is that when participating in troll threads
goes to the excesses it has lately, many of the people you hope to
converse with about sailing in the spring will have left PERMANENTLY.
All that will be left will be you, Jon, and a much higher percentage
of trolls, who will have settled in for the long haul.

Point taken. I shall endeavor to restrain my impulses.

Where are you? My boat is in a similar situation, though only about
five meters from the frozen waters of Deadmans Bay, at CFB Kingston.

Cheers

I'm about 30 miles north of Green Bay, Wisconsin ("Happy cows come from
California; Ecstatic cows live in Wisconsin"). My boat is on the hard in
Marinette, Wisconsin, on the Marinette River just across the bridge from
Menominee, Michigan. Ice usually breaks-up in early to mid April, but it may
be a little late this year what with all the global warming bringing us
sub-zero temps. But it's only mid-January, we could always have an early
spring anyway.
