Default San Juan 21 swing keel problem

William,

Your calculation sound correct. Also since the keel is on a pivot,
would that reduce the force as well?

yes, the whole of the swing keel is not being raised against gravity. the
front is not raised at all. the force required would change as the keel
changed position while being raised. I don't know if I could figure out
the math for that.
