Yes, that is what some cruisers do before heading off to the So. Pac. for
several year.. When they get back they just strip both the paint and varnish to "bare" the teak.. Otherwise the paint oils and pigment will get into the teak grain and would require heavy sanding.. I know it is possible to let the teak go gray/silver but thin trim teak will dry too much and spit (I speak from experience). STeve s/v Good Intentions. "Phil" wrote in message .
