Default Painting Teak

Yes, that is what some cruisers do before heading off to the So. Pac. for
several year.. When they get back they just strip both the paint and varnish
to "bare" the teak.. Otherwise the paint oils and pigment will get into
the teak grain and would require heavy sanding..

I know it is possible to let the teak go gray/silver but thin trim teak
will dry too much and spit (I speak from experience).

Any comments or suggestions? What would be the best wood prep and the
longest lasting and best paint to use?
