Default inboard

New to group, Hi
I have heard that the diesel engines from the refrig units on tractor
trailers can be economically converted to inboard motor use. Anyone
know if this is valid?

Hi Stu...
Perkins 50 H.P. diesels were used for refer trucks and were once a
common source for blocks..
You kinda have to be a mechanic though......
What kind of boat do you have?

capt. Mack,
I think 50 H.P. is too big for my application. I am building a 16ft
fishing boat and my heritage requires me to do everything at the
absolutely cheapest level. Although I am not a diesel mechanic per se,
I have for the aforementioned reason done a lot of wrenching and
rebuilding. My thought is that in the long run an inboard diesel would
be a lot cheaper to operate and my speed demon days are long behind me.
