It was always done for him by the armorer. Marty, I met Connors in 1988, shortly before he did his BK ad and his last series of appearances. He knew how to shoot and owned an impressive gun collection. My father, who was a animal trainer and handler for film, also knew him. I've heard the dopey story that he couldn't load the gun and it's just that; a story. Part of it is actually based on ignorance like yours as actors were not permitted (and still aren't) to load the guns ever. Winchester and several other gunmakers made guns for him for the show. Some were used for riding, others for stunts. He even had a simple carved/wood gun for some scenes. Most of his guns were sold at a private auction, but several were kept, including the model 34's he used for firing during some scenes. IN fact there were more than three models of guns used. As usual, Marty, you have no clue. I knew the guy as did my father, so please spare me your google research. The gun I'm buying was on his wall and I saw it there myself. I could sell it for 5 times what I'm paying in a heart-beat, just like I recently sold a Winchester Flatside 1866 for 18.5K (tripling my money in two months). BTW, Dan Welby taught Connors to shoot. Don't bother googling him because that's his real name. Maybe you can impress me and tell us what his famous stage name was as he was one of the world's finest shots and renowned gun experts. Now go take a deep deep breath and wait for a clue to come over you, Marty. What a windbag you remain. My goodness Bob but you do get your knickers in a knot when you're caught telling a porkie don't you? Cheers Marty My goodness, Farty, but I'll post a pic of the gun when it's dropped off. As usual a photo will end speculation. The Better Captain 35s5 NY |

The Winchester 37 1940 costs less than any of my shotguns! http://www.gunrunnerauctions.com/lis....cfm?itemnum=8... But yet the 16 ga is only worth $75-$150! Over one million produced! http://www.thehighroad.org/archive/i...p/t-19399.html Good lord! Is there ANYTHING that Bob Crantz actually knows? It seems that all he does is look up stuff and pretend. Well, Bob...here you go. The 37 was one of the most popular shotguns ever produced. That said, a boxed sample with paperwork from 1940 is worth around 500-800 dollars, since it's just about impossible to find. I actually have two, though one is just a shooting sample. I also have a NYC issue FSC revolver, but it's kept at my father's home. It's one of 9 known examples. Care to guess it's value? The Better Captain 35s5 NY |

Cheers Marty, (who doesn't need Google to know one Winchester from another). I guess Farty Marty didn't know who Dan Welby was. But he knows guns! Uh Huh! The Better Captain 35s5 NY |

then! Bwaaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaaaaa!!!!! During the show's run they never once used a gun built to match the time and setting. Not Once. All were modern samples. The better Captain 35s5 NY |

![]() Marty, (who doesn't need Google to know one Winchester from another). Marty had nothing clever to say about the Flatside either! Probably doesn't even know what it is or why they command so much money. The Better Captain 35s5 NY |

The 37 was one of the most popular shotguns ever produced. That said, a boxed sample with paperwork from 1940 is worth around 500-800 dollars, That's just a stunning price for a shotgun! since it's just about impossible to find. That's why it's worth 800 dollars! 800 dollars for a collectible shotgun! I actually have two, though one is just a shooting sample. What are the NRA grades of these highly sought after collector's pieces? I also have a NYC issue FSC revolver, but it's kept at my father's home. It's one of 9 known examples. Care to guess it's value? The FSC is a semi auto clip fed pistol, not a revolver. Please stick to what you know. One of my vintage Crosman air rifles is worth more than your collectible shotgun. |
