Ping: J. Ganz ( S.F. sailing tragedy)
Hey Jonathan...
What are you and/or your sailing associates thoughts about what may have gone down (no pun intended) in yesterdays sailing tragedy? Do you think the boat was struck... or broke apart? I guess the weather was pretty rough as well. I'm assuming the one gentleman they found washed ashore at Moss Beachwith his life jacket on probably expired from hypothermia. Sad situation never the less. Reminds me of the Jim Grey incident. Best regards Bill Anacapa Isle Marina Channel Islands Harbor Oxnard, California |

Best regards Bill Anacapa Isle Marina Channel Islands Harbor Oxnard, California Yeah, not much is known... given the conditions, the money is on being capsized due to the fairly tough conditions. Both were good sailors, but not young. It probably happened pretty quickly.. perhaps they were thrown off the boat, but you'd think they would have been wearing harnesses, given the high winds and 15+ ft swells. It can definitely be scary out there. http://www.latitude38.com/lectronic/...ayid=88#Story2 http://www.efluxmedia.com/news_SF_Sa...ned_15224.html -- "j" ganz @@ www.sailnow.com |
