The "wrong way" route.
It is said It's easier to sail to England, then Africa, then Jamaica, given the gulf stream, trade winds and seasonal storms. Traditionally, each leg could also yield profits, while pleasure sailors seemingly (those who rehearse by tearing up hundreds while under a cold shower) only enjoy boasting about their maintenance costs. Unless you take the inside route down the ICW, another bag of eels if you are relying on sails. Sounds interesting, anyway. Why do it? Terry K |
