Texas must be a really scary place with all those concealed handguns,
and the percieved need to have one. How about Washington D.C. Increadibly high crime rate, no guns allowed at all. Virginia has a much lower violent crime rate. They are right next to each other but virginia has a right to carry statute meaning it is easy to get aconcealed weapons permit. States with right to carry laws have lower crime rates than those without. This may be due to other factors but the fact remains that those states are safer than the ones that are more restrictive of gun ownership and carry. States with Right To Carry laws have lower violent crime rates. On average, they have a 24% lower total violent crime rate, a 19% lower homicide rate, a 39% lower robbery rate, and a 19% lower aggravated assault rate, compared to other states and the District of Columbia. The nine states with the lowest violent crime rates are all Right To Carry states. (Data: FBI)" http://www.guncite.com/gun_control_rtcstates.html |
