Texas must be a really scary place with all those concealed handguns,
and the percieved need to have one.
How about Washington D.C. Increadibly high crime rate, no guns
allowed at all. Virginia has a much lower violent crime rate. They
are right next to each other but virginia has a right to carry statute
meaning it is easy to get aconcealed weapons permit. States with
right to carry laws have lower crime rates than those without. This
may be due to other factors but the fact remains that those states are
safer than the ones that are more restrictive of gun ownership and
carry.
States with Right To Carry laws have lower violent crime rates. On
average, they have a 24% lower total violent crime rate, a 19% lower
homicide rate, a 39% lower robbery rate, and a 19% lower aggravated
assault rate, compared to other states and the District of Columbia.
The nine states with the lowest violent crime rates are all Right To
Carry states. (Data: FBI)"

God, what is with you gun nuts? Your brains are as soft as puppy
****! The very site you quoted was actually showing that the math
used in NRA's "analysis" was completely bogus! The alleged "24% lower
total violent crime" is only 8%, and in fact the "may issue" states
really had 13% lower homicide rate than the "shall issue" states.
(Personally, I don't have much faith in the "violent crime"
statistics, because the meaning of "assault" it highly variable.
Murder, on the other hand, is pretty specific.)
As for comparing DC to Virginia, that's a pretty stupid comparison.
DC is almost entirely inner city, with no political connection to the
surrounding burbs. VA is a large state, with a large suburban and
rural population. However, how do they really stack up? DC has a
very high murder rate, 35 per 100,000 according to the 2005 FBI
numbers. But what about Richmond, VA? They were much higher with 43
per 100,000! So much for your theories!
