You waste a LOT more time hanking on your jib than I do on teak

That last is a most revealing statement. If you really think hanking on
a jib is wasting time then you're missing the whole point of sailing.
Sailing is about taking the time to do it right and not about getting
someplace quickly by using shortcuts.
