It has been constantly maintained and upgraded since new, so condition is not a big worry. This is not a bargin priced derelict. Of course I'll have a survey done if things progress that far. This one was made without teak decks, which to me, is a major plus. Low hours on the Yanmar. I'm more interested in hearing about how the boat sails and what it is like to spend long periods aboard. I already like the looks and the size, although I've also considered some larger boats. The boat would be used initially for frequent daysails (often single handed) long weekends, and cruises of a week or two at most. In a few years, we'd be on the boat for six or more months at a time. Once we transition to the longer term situation, we might even consider leaving it somewhere nice like the Med, and flying to the boat. I've long admired these boats, but I've never spent more than an afternoon on one. CWM Better: http://www.westsail.org/_family/_ws42/index.html Joe |

I want to be able to single hand as I get older. This isn't going to be our primary residence. You could not single handle that 42 fter? Either way they are good stout boats. What about a Pacific Seacraft 32 http://www.carolinawind.com/images/b...32offshore.jpg Joe CWM |

Max So, you are saying that your pockets are shoal draft? Not mine. We're looking at 40' and longer. Max |

![]() "Charlie Morgan" wrote in message So, for you, it's a stretch, and if you had more money you would look at an 80 footer? Not even close. After decades of sailing and cruising, we've decided that a boat in the 38' to 44' range is ideal for our needs and purposes. We haven't found anything of interest under 40', thus my comment. As for our financial picture, that's none of your business. Sorry, but that's not the way I do things. I'm interested in boats I'm interested in, not ones that are at some particular price point. If you found a 34 foot boat that suited you, you wouldn't buy it because it wasn't the biggest boat you could afford? That's too bad. That's also ridiculous, and not even close to reality. Max |
