Nutsy,
Or should we address you as; "2nd Hand Rose?" Are you putting ultra violet protection on the the Leech of your 2nd handed Butchered Head Sail? Seems like your wonderful Deck Level Furler is just "Junk" now. Worth nothing on e-bay because of the Track attached. Seems like a very poor mental error on your part. I want to go on recorded of not agreeing with any thing you've done with your Head Sail. Starting with the purchase of a racing jib for a cruising knock about boat, The need to go to the pointy End of the boat to hank on a head sail and remove it from a useless Self Furling system. I'm really not sure that you are that stupid. Is this just another of your; "Lying trolls?" http://community.webtv.net/tassail/ILLDRINKTOTHAT |

I want to go on recorded of not agreeing with any thing you've done with your Head Sail. Starting with the purchase of a racing jib for a cruising knock about boat, Thom, I paid nothing for the Pentax Mylar. I thought I e-mailed you and gave you the facts. I traded a sail from my closet, a 1989 Kevlar Lt. #1 from a J35. To be fare, it's in like new shape and worth more than what I'm getting, but I couldn't use it or recut it and I got less that 400 bucks for the last one I sold. The pentax mylar has only been cut down 8% and a new cover added. I've been promised that it's 8-9 condition or my money back. Same for the main and that sail, already delivered, is hard to rate much below a 10 for condition. The Genoa was cut high to make it easier for a small crew to handle and for singlehanding. The deck sweeper is a pain and I don't race. On top of that the loft threw in new battens for the main and is including a lazy jack system for free. I can't see the downside of a basically free hi tech sail, cut for easier handling that I will use for bopping around the bay. True, we're not taking advantage of the below deck furler, but so what? I'm not taking advantage of all the 35s5's potential or any boat for that matter. Who does? Perhaps you can enlighten me? RB 35s5 NY |

Nutsy,
Years ago, when I lived in NY and Herb Hild was still alive and sailing his Tartan, he had a saying that has stuck with me. He said: " Anything that keep me, my family and my friends off the pointy end of the Boat is a GOOD THING!" Nutsy, you have turned that completely around by going to a Hanked on head sail! You've made Neal happy and me disgusted. You've gone against a cruiser's way. Sorry, I disagree with you (For what ever that means coming from a Beached Bum) http://community.webtv.net/tassail/ILLDRINKTOTHAT |

![]() Nutsy, you have turned that completely around by going to a Hanked on head sail! Thom, I think you're confused. The Pentax Mylar has a UV cover and was built to be furled and left up. Perhaps if I was going away for a week or more, I'd roll and stow, but otherwise it's no different than my current Mylar 110% except that it's in great shape and will be easier to fly. RB 35s5 NY |

Sorry Nutsy,
I asked about Ultra Lite protection and didn't get an answer or at least I don't remember an affirmative answer. Is you have it set-up for Self Furling and storage on the Head Stay; GOOD ON YOU!! I stand corrected. Carry on. http://community.webtv.net/tassail/ILLDRINKTOTHAT |
