![]() Face it, Rob. You're at a marina that calls itself a yacht club and hands out phony "membership" cards so its customers can freeload off others. The game's been going on on City Island for at least 35 years. Dave, how deep does your ignorance run? We have no membership cards of any kind. Then again nobody here has ever been questioned when visiting other clubs. And of course we discount to all BoatUS and club members. Honestly...we don't check anyone's cards either. We just ask. Yep...we have quite a scam going on here at NMYC! We offer more than your club, everyone has a slip with power and water and it costs much more to be here for it. Your "club" offers no service to members, no deals on gear, no restaurant discounts and basically nothing they can't charge you for. Do you even have a club shirt and jacket? We do! Hey, guess what...they're calling for 30 knots this afternoon. Think the launch can get you out to your boat? It sure won't be fun to BBQ out there! Sounds great! We'll be out at 4:00 sailing while you argue with the launch driver! Don't forget to tip him 2 bucks! RB 35s5 NY |

Of course. But I haven't bought them. And a bunch of other stuff. But
"stuff" does not a club make. Nor does a bar. No problem. The Cove is very well protected. As for BBQ on a boat, some folks do. I don't. No! First you told us that the cove always has a nice breeze. Now it's well protected when those breezes pick up. We're all very impressed! Sounds great! We'll be out at 4:00 sailing while you argue with the launch driver! Don't forget to tip him 2 bucks! Up here where it's more civilized, you leave the launch driver a check at the end of the season for whatever you think appropriate. Bwahahahahaha! A nice paper trail for a launch driver? I'm sure they're happy with that! BTW, our launch operator is a licenced captain. Is yours? Have fun hanging on that chain...if you feel that's civilized! RB 35s5 NY |

Look up something called "fetch" and get back to me. You've trained your dog to keep strong winds and bad weather out of the cove??? Wow! Bwahahahahahaha! Dave, come off whatever you're on already! Your crappy boat hanging from a rusty chain at some hot air club is not impressing anyone. It's a scam and people who really use their boats don't want to pay for a restaurant and the ability to get to their own boats! Now if you use and dig that whole "club scene" and the food and events, by all means give them your money. But NMYC closed it's clubhouse because people prefered to be on their boats. Of course that really doesn't work for a mooring field, now does it? RB 35s5 NY |

Indeed. That's probably why we don't have a restaurant.
Really? So you must have local arrangements with restaurants that give 20% off, right? Sounds like your paying a lot of cash for a mooring and little else. What does your "club" offer that's useful for the boat itself? Full time docking? Dinghy dock? Discounts from BoatUS and West Marine and UK and Doyle? Wireless internet? Anything? Oh, yeah...you have a program for kids. We have that too, right across the street with 15 assorted boats and a shared pair of Capri 25's. On the other hand, using your test the folks at NYYC don't really want to use their boats. Dunno, never been there. But I always sailboat owners that if they try a slip they'll use their boats 1/3 more. So far no one who's tried a slip has come back to argue the point. Full and instant access to the boat is the only wait to go. But hey, it's your toy! Get out of the New York ghetto. Yeah! The lowest cost boat at my club is a J29 (though her sail inventory cost more than your whole boat!)...oh but the owner also has a new Cruisers 32 here. Your boat wouldn't fit in with our ghetto Bristols, Swedens, Island Packets, Beneteaus, Tartans, Vindo's and so on...and let's be honest, even the new Catalina 350 here is light years nicer than your boat as is the Hunter 39. Did you ever consider just selling that poor tub and joining a second club? BWAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA!!!! RB 35s5 NY |

Dave,
Do you have cable tv at your mooring? A vending machine no less than 50 yds away? Towel service in the men's room? hmmm? |

BTW, when is that "club" of yours going to sponsor a race? You gonna be on the committee boat? I'd rather they sponsor naval gunnery practice and RB be on the target boat. |

![]() So far no one who's tried a slip has come back to argue the point. As I said before, I spent several years in a slip at a much nicer marina than yours. And I'm arguing the point. How could have been nicer if you're arguing the point? Can you explain how the mooring is better then? You've failed to explain in any way how the slip failed you. Give us a list of points as to why the mooring is better. RB 35s5 NY |
