![]() Yesterday I had a few things to do on board.... 1) Fix windex...had a bend in it and it was touching the VHF antenna. 2) Install cradle for video Ipod 3) Run cable for Ram mic2 for cockpit install. It was HOT out!!!! HOT, hot, hot! And humid. Just really rough weather for this kind of stuff. So before starting I flipped on the air conditioning and dropped the canvas companionway cover in place. I pumped out the rainwater from the dinghy and returned to an ice cold cabin! It's just so nice to not sweat a gallon in a 105 degree boat cabin. I finished things off quickly and the hot sun actually felt good back outside. I walked over to my buddy (she owns a Sabre 34) and she was just about ready for heat stroke working on her boat. I invited her over to Heart of Gold to cool off. 20 minutes later, my 105 lb mast climber arrived. Kathy is great for this stuff and in good enough shape to go up a mast without a chair. We used the chair anyway. Windex fixed! Back below...now joined by two fella's who own a nicely restored Chris Craft. Hey, they HAVE a/c too! Ah well, Kathy's a pretty 27 year old girl from Ohio. Sitting below we all had ice cold drinks in a cool cabin....fired up the Ipod for some tunes and talked boats like civilized yachtsmen. Air conditioning aboard simply makes good sense. We still don't know if we need a genset. It's been pretty cool at night thus far. In this hot summer, I can well see why Scotty in his advancing years chose to stay ashore. No one believes he stayed ashore for picnics...or maybe his engine is seized! Going sailing at about 5:00 today to beat the heat! RB 35s5 NY |
