How to beat "The Horror!"
Yesterday I had a few things to do on board.... 1) Fix windex...had a bend in it and it was touching the VHF antenna. 2) Install cradle for video Ipod 3) Run cable for Ram mic2 for cockpit install. It was HOT out!!!! HOT, hot, hot! And humid. Just really rough weather for this kind of stuff. So before starting I flipped on the air conditioning and dropped the canvas companionway cover in place. I pumped out the rainwater from the dinghy and returned to an ice cold cabin! It's just so nice to not sweat a gallon in a 105 degree boat cabin. I finished things off quickly and the hot sun actually felt good back outside. I walked over to my buddy (she owns a Sabre 34) and she was just about ready for heat stroke working on her boat. I invited her over to Heart of Gold to cool off. 20 minutes later, my 105 lb mast climber arrived. Kathy is great for this stuff and in good enough shape to go up a mast without a chair. We used the chair anyway. Windex fixed! Back below...now joined by two fella's who own a nicely restored Chris Craft. Hey, they HAVE a/c too! Ah well, Kathy's a pretty 27 year old girl from Ohio. Sitting below we all had ice cold drinks in a cool cabin....fired up the Ipod for some tunes and talked boats like civilized yachtsmen. Air conditioning aboard simply makes good sense. We still don't know if we need a genset. It's been pretty cool at night thus far. In this hot summer, I can well see why Scotty in his advancing years chose to stay ashore. No one believes he stayed ashore for picnics...or maybe his engine is seized! Going sailing at about 5:00 today to beat the heat! RB 35s5 NY |

Too bad you had to spend the day sitting dockside with no wind. Of course if you belonged to a real yacht club instead of a marina that puts up a sign and hands out cards, and were moored where there's always a bit of breeze, you could have chosen to take out one of the club's dinghies and done a bit of dinghy sailing. Saw one of ours capsize in a puff today while zipping around the cove. How many sailing dinghies does that club of yours have for its members' use BS? Not much wind on the Sound today, so I had a pleasant day sitting on the mooring with a cool breeze blowing, reading a book while my daughter took a swim from the boat. One of my few complaints about the location is that since we always have a decent breeze in the Cove you can't really tell whether there's enough wind on the Sound. AC? I don't think so. How could you expose your daughter to such horror? Your a monster, Dave!!!!! -- Scotty ''One who never gets out of the Sound cannot, with any degree of credibility, comment on the courage of fellow sailors'' ....F.B. http://tinyurl.com/pzdl8 |

Too bad you had to spend the day sitting dockside with no wind. Who said there was no wind. There was a breeze all day. How many sailing dinghies does that club of yours have for its members' use BS? We have City Island, Harlem and Sty. yachtclub here. They don't all offer dinghies to sail, but we have a deal with CIYC to use theres in exchange for discounts on service. Not much wind on the Sound today, so I had a pleasant day sitting on the mooring with a cool breeze blowing, Huh? No wind, but you had a breeze??? Plenty of people were sailing Sunday, but it was flukey, blowing 8 knots, then 15, then nothing. By about 3:00 it looked pretty good out there. we always have a decent breeze in the Cove you can't really tell whether there's enough wind on the Sound. Can't you see out of the cove? Don't you have a radio? Yes, we all know about Coves like that. Centre Port is like that. It's nice to always have the best winds on the LIS here and we don't have to sail out of a hole. AC? I don't think so. Your sad little boat can't handle an A/C. And considering that you have a daughter and such a dated boat, you probably can't afford it anyway. Most people would want something nicer for their child, if they could afford it. I guess your boat is better than nothing, though it's a close call. RB 35s5 NY |

Actually, BS, she's 28 and owns 1/3 of the boat (we put her on the title when we bought it). One third of a floating hot dog. Is she hot? Would she like sail on a nicer boat? I did manage somehow to put her through one of the City's best private schools, and one of the top 3 small liberal arts colleges in the country (she graduated summa), and she's half way through an MBA at one of US New's top 5 business schools. And we didn't have to move to a dump in an outlying boro to manage it. Kew Gardens is a dump? Forest Hills? Dang! Who knew??? It's a matter, I suppose, of values. Do you invest in your kid's future, or buy a big platic toy so you can sit by the dock with the AC running. I guess you couldn't do both. Thom's college is all paid for. In fact Thom has about 60K in bonds alone from his 1st birthday. Our family is rich enough so we don't have to worry about such things. We also sold our two family house in Brooklyn (which I inherited in the mid 80's) and will be buying property in Mahopac in 2008. Judging by what you had to give up, you weren't so lucky. You can't be too bright. I'm home or on the boat 7 days a week, time to play and Suzanne was back at school for 3 years at a private school...and you couldn't figure out that my wallet has more cash than your whole net worth? Sorry. RB 35s5 NY |

Our family is rich enough so we don't have to worry about such things. No class! Robert. Until you lose your compulsion to talk about your money and the cost of your toys, you'll always be a wannabe on the outside looking in. Dave, it's almost as though you don't know this is ASA. Do you read posts from everyone else, or just mine? Here's a tip: 1) You have no real idea of who I am, if I sail or even own a boat or if anything I type here is real or just for my amusement. Ozzy, Mooron and a few others get this. You, Scotty, Sloco, Doug and a few other lame ducks forever spin your wheels. The very "idea" that someone could look down on them as I "might" is all it takes to ruffle feathers. Now go get your shoe shine box! RB 35s5 NY |

As I mentioned earlier, I read maybe one out of 100 of your posts
generally. What a silly lie. You've read every post today and answered all others like a total tool. I suppose one difference is that I've actually met you and seen you on one of the boats you owned or claim to own, and I've seen your "club." As I said, you have no idea who I am or what I sail. The very fact that you say "claim to own" proves it. I have no idea what you really sail, though I'm inclined to believe you since it's one sad boat. RB 35s5 NY |

While I don't know what you currently sail, either I met you or some fat guy standing on a C&C on the hard that matched the pictures of the one you claimed to own LOL, Dave. I've never introduced myself as "Robert" Brody. Always Bob Brody. Sorry, Dave. Guess you just got busted again!!!! RB 35s5 NY |
