In the air of NYC? You gotta be kidding. We don't breathe in NYC. good decision, keep it up. Good reason to avoid those states. Two beers and I'm over the limit in most cases. BWwahahahah what a pussy! Wrong again, I stopped drinking when a close friend raped me I was 31 at the time and so drunk I enjoyed it. . Roughy 5% of colitis sufferers experience such remissions and sometimes the symptoms never return. My legs are crossed. and your butt cheeks clenched? |
SPLICE THE MAIN BRACE !!!!!
I have a copy of that one Thom.... :-)
All the sailors I grew up with liked to have their "rations"... CM "Thom Stewart" wrote in message ... Scotty; Said much better than me!! I guess Nutsy is left "Stomping By Himself" " Old Ironsides" My Kind of ship. Hey Mooron, Top This!! The U.S.S. Constitution, as a combat vessel carried 48,600 gallons of fresh water for her crew of 475 officers and men. This was sufficient to last six months of sustained operations at sea. She carried no evaporators (fresh water distillers). However, let it be noted that according to her log, "On July 27, 1798, the U.S.S. Constitution sailed from Boston with a full complement of 475 officers and men, 48,600 gallons of fresh water, 7,400 cannon shot, 11,600 pounds of black powder and 79,400 gallons of rum." Her mission: "To destroy and harass English shipping." Making Jamaica on 6 October, she took on 826 pounds of flour and 68,300 gallons of rum. Then she headed for the Azores, arriving there 12 November. She provisioned with 550 pounds of beef and 64,300 gallons of Portuguese wine. On 18 November, she set sail for England. In the ensuing days she defeated five British men-of-war and captured and scuttled 12 English merchantmen, salvaging only the rum aboard each. By 26 January, her powder and shot were exhausted. Nevertheless, and though unarmed, she made a night raid up the Firth of Clyde in Scotland. Her landing party captured a whiskey distillery and transferred 40,000 gallons of single malt Scotch aboard by dawn. The U.S.S. Constitution arrived in Boston on 20 February 1799, with no cannon shot, no food, no powder, NO rum, NO wine, NO whiskey and 38,600 gallons of stagnant water. Now, those were Sailors! No wonder she is the oldest commissioned Ship of the US NAVY. She was manned by drinking, fighting sailors. Not Drunks but HARD DRINKING SAILORS. Good night Nutsy, have your warm milk (g) You lost this discussion to Drinking Sailors :^)) Hope you learned "NOT TO CHALLENGE DRINKING SAILORS!!" and; "I'll Drink To THAT!" Ol Thom |
SPLICE THE MAIN BRACE !!!!!
CM,
It is a great article---but---I have to wonder? You do the Math and it's over two gallons a day for 475 men for 8 months. Now I know they took prisoners and they drank but that must have been one CRAZY sail home from Scotland. Oh well, it no worst than Adam & Eve; I guess. Time does improve a story. |

"Thom Stewart" wrote in message ... Scott, Do you think that is why his Father & Mother moved away from him and left him in NYC? He was to much to take? His Dad left him to the ASA. More people to help. Well, he does have his Imaginary Friends but they aren't that he thinks are helping him. He is just a lonely Soul with make believe friends, with make believe deeds and keeps his own score, his own make believe way. He has a telescope (so he claims) so that he can Howl at the Moon. He calls that a Victory (with his score keeping) A Soul to be sad for. I won't ridicule him any more. He's had enough. He's much to easy to put down. He creates the ammo to be used against himself. Time to let up for me. However, he is yours ASA; Have fun!!! Beach Bum/Ol Thom I've always imagined Bubbles to be some sordid, maligned middle-age man with arrested maturity, sitting alone in his tiny flat in Flatbush, glued to his computer, fabricating an existence that he believes will impress others, because it certainly would impress him. Periodic visits to his successfully-employed and married sister in Manhattan enable him to take shots of his nephew (Thomas) and his sister (Suzy). Forays to the local marina allow him the opportunity to shoot his favorite boat, the Bendy 35s5, that is owned by someone he doesn't know but is seldom on the boat, enabling Bubbles to take numerous shots of it. His Kodak 1.3 megapixel digital camera that he bought at Goodwill for $10 enables him to "verify" his imaginary existence. His '79 Dodge Dart is a far cry from his purported Subaru STI or even his wishfully-thought Kia Sedona. His 13" B&W tv is nothing at all like his sister's front projection tv that she had to purchase when her Bubbles got drunk and fell into the screen of her rear-projection unit. And his only resource is an old, stolen library book on sailing, which enables him to speak halfway coherently on sailing topics. You are right to pity him and abstain from ridiculing him further. He deserves only our sympathy . . . . . . and some intensive psychotherapy. Max :-) |
