I didn't say it relieved him of responsibility.... that's the weight of his position. I merely stated he was not at the helm... he was officially "Off Watch". You're statement on the other hand could be construed as placing him drunk at the helm.... which wasn't the case. CM Mooron...The new "guy" is calling the Exxon Valdez a " boat". You are wasting your time. He hasen't a clue. Joe |

Your lack of seamanship is showing. You seem to have no knowledge of the Traditional "Rum Ration" supplied the sailors on Sailing Ships for years. Better men than you & I have been drinking and sailing for many, many years. A sign of good seamanship! Ol Thom Now, Thom, I'm aware of the ongoing history for sailing and drinking. But I won't even jokingly advocate such an idiotic practice. A boat should be handled sober at all times, no different than a car in that respect. If you're caught in NY drinking and operating a boat you lose the boat. RB 35s5 NY |

RB can only associate liquor with excess. Real manly men can and do
hold their liquor. Mooron holds it with both hands. In many hundreds of tests, it has been found that even a single beer impairs reaction time for ANYONE. Since I'm one of the few people here actually earning money with sailing, I could claim I deserve a drink now and again. But I don't need to drink. Like smoking it's for the weak willed. RB 35s5 NY |

The seabreeze after dark was perfect, the moon was bright, the sky was crystal clear, saw a few shooting stars. Amazingly Joe's sailing story suddenly appeared right after he read that we'd been out for a sail. Prior to that he'd said the following: ""Just getting out on the water is not a deep desire. " Good lord! He's been autotrounced! But let's not forget he's proud to be a motorsailor! RB 35s5 NY |

Nutsy,
Drinking is NOT being drunk. Bob there is a moderate, middle road that you've never discovered. It can be very comfortable. It beat the Hell out of either edge. Try it Ol TS |
