You put yourself there with your behavior. If you don't like
it, then change the way you act.

We thought Bush was pretty funny until he was "elected".

Absolutely true.

And Maxprop accuses me of not finding anything funny about
the far-right wing.

Perhaps Maxipad fails to see that these people are entertainers first. That
is what gets them their paycheck and power.

The right wing is much more hysterical than the loonie left. The loonie left
take themselves too seriously. The right preaches morals and look so funny
when caught with their hand down a boy's pants or lose their hearing to
painkiller addictions. With the right it is the hypocrisy. With the left it
is the stoopidity. Both provide good theater.

Amen!

Bob, I'm hoping you can explain this to me... Why is there a "Religious

dealings
with life and reality?

There is a religious left, it's not very big. If you consider
environmentalism a religion then it gets bigger. The left have their own
forms of delusion too. I'm beginning to believe the right's delusions are
more dangerous. Some say the world will end by fire, some say by ice...

In the words of the Great Barry Goldwater:

"Those who seek absolute power, even though they seek it to do what they
regard as good, are simply demanding the right to enforce their own version
of heaven on earth. And let me remind you, they are the very ones who always
create the most hellish tyrannies. Absolute power does corrupt, and those
who seek it must be suspect and must be opposed. Their mistaken course stems
from false notions of equality, ladies and gentlemen. Equality, rightly
understood, as our founding fathers understood it, leads to liberty and to
the emancipation of creative differences. Wrongly understood, as it has been
so tragically in our time, it leads first to conformity and then to
despotism."

"I cherish a day when our children once again will restore as heroes the
sort of men and women who - unafraid and undaunted - pursue the truth,
strive to cure disease, subdue and make fruitful our natural environment and
produce the inventive engines of production, science, and technology."

"We see, in private property and in economy based upon and fostering private
property, the one way to make government a durable ally of the whole man,
rather than his determined enemy. We see in the sanctity of private property
the only durable foundation for constitutional government in a free society.
And beyond that, we see, in cherished diversity of ways, diversity of
thoughts, of motives and accomplishments. We do not seek to lead anyone's
life for him - we seek only to secure his rights and to guarantee him
opportunity to strive, with government performing only those needed and
constitutionally sanctioned tasks which cannot otherwise be performed. "

"I would remind you that extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice. And
let me remind you also that moderation in the pursuit of justice is no
virtue."

AMEN!

Are you so blind to your own behavior that you believe yourself to be any
different, albeit at the opposite end of the political spectrum?

1- I am not at the "opposite end of the political spectrum"
except possibly with regard to principle

2- My behavior is very considerably different. You and Dave
are the only ones who think I insult others for disagreeing,
and then only some of the time. Everybody knows that you do
it all the time.

So it isn't really a question of "belief" now is it?

What Max believes is that Doug has nothing resembling a sense of humor.
Doug is an angry, strident whiner, and while he claims to interject humor
into his political diatribes he tends to allow his angry side too much
latitude. He's the sort we all tend to back away from when he's ****ed.

Further I am well aware that Rush and Ann are entertainers first, last, and
in between. I've never taken any political pundits seriously, nor do I take
our Congressmen and Senators seriously, at least not until they attempt to
run for higher office. What's amusing is that I can rip Ann Coulter a new
one and Doug will continue to blast me as a right-wing wacko nonetheless.

The right wing is much more hysterical than the loonie left. The loonie

I couldn't agree more. Doug doesn't listen to me--he assumes that I'm a
right-wing fanatic, when all along I've been either playing devil's advocate
or blasting the extremes equally. His mind is made up--don't confuse him
with humor or satire.

Politics is a sordid business. The players are usually some of the most
flawed individuals that occupy space on the planet, and that applies to
politicians everywhere, not just here. They are easy targets. Good theater
aside, they are certainly yanking a lot of citizens' chains collectively.
The chain around Doug's neck is getting elongated from being yanked so
frequently and firmly.

Say, that's pretty good. Mind if I use that? Or did you plagiarize that?

It's good Barry died when he did. He'd be disappointed with the
sociopolitical climate of today.
