At full speed the mileage would drop quite a bit and
approach that of a gas engine--I'll guess 70-75 mpg? Still it would go 5 1/3 times as far as my pickup truck. Diesels have a nice amount of torque. They are fast off the line at a stop light. I used to pull a snow mobile trailer with my Rabbit diesel. I'll bet a little smart-car could pull a trailer--which would be a good thing as tail-gate'r would make me real nervous in a car that is so obviously vulnerable to a rear end collision.
