Max Brutal murder? My ass! It's no worse than what we do to millions of pigs and cows every year. You do realize that nobody has taken a white coat in over twenty years? Cheers Marty |

Whats the difference if it's a white coat or not? Just a few weeks
time. But culling the heard may be the best way to preserve and strengthen the species. And the hunters may be doing more to preserve and protect the seals than any others. I would rather see laws restricting the age to one yr + before the seals can be killed, but the russians women do not like scars on thier pelts, they prefer soft as a babies bottom furs. I would imagine Max might cut down on his big macs and steaks if he spent a day at a slaughter house. Not much difference in a club and a hydralic ram. Joe |

My wife's father used to do it with a sledge, but he was Irish and likely drunk at the time! For sure most people wouldn't touch anything that said "Mechanically separated", means they used pressure washer to scour the flesh of the bones and then strained the bigger pieces out of the slurry to make into hot-dogs. Max Brutal murder? My ass! It's no worse than what we do to millions of pigs and cows every year. Hardly. Most domesticated farm animals slaughtered for food and hides are sacrificed with a device termed a "humane killer," which is little more than a gun that blows the brains to mush instantly, obviating pain on the part of the animal. The animal is generally dead before it hits the ground. The harp seal thugs club the poor things until they are immobile, but often not dead. The pups lie there, some for hours, dying in agony, having been live-scalped. And they leave the fur-stripped carcasses to rot on the snow. You do realize that nobody has taken a white coat in over twenty years? Your point? They are still clubbing the pups to death in an inhumane way. The problem is only partly the Canadian seal "hunters." The European market for such furs is the other part. Max |

The whole of North America could get by on three or four steers a year if everyone ate as little beef as I do. But there is a huge difference between a club and your hydraulic ram (not sure where those are used, but the slaughterhouses I've seen use guns with light explosive-charge bullets). The clubbed seals die a lingering, painful death, while the sacrificed steers die instantly. Max |

So, you either don't know how much beef is on an average steer, you don't know the population of North America, or you are REALLY bad at math. Is this another one of your "theories"? My current theory is that you are reading-impaired. Re-read my sentence and figure it out for yourself. Hint: I haven't eaten any beef in over a year. My estimate of three or four steers was a little high based on that. Max |

It's a fact, not a theory. :-)
