distances are typcially shorter in deep snow.
Right, for a snowmobile. Right, then we agree. A snowmobile (or an ice boat) on ice is actually planning on a thin film of water. Same for a SUV on a plowed street. Even with ABS, the wheel slips and stutters and stopping distances are longer. In fact, stopping distances can be longer in the rain than in heavy snow. Snow offers continued resistance when stopping and also impedes steering input due to "tracking" by the rear wheels. This is basic driving info. I guess you're no professional.
