You really shouldn't give out dangerous advice just to troll. Stopping
distances are typcially shorter in deep snow. A plowed street leaves
snow over ice in most conditions..

Right, for a snowmobile.

Right, then we agree. A snowmobile (or an ice boat) on ice is actually
planning on a thin film of water. Same for a SUV on a plowed street.
Even with ABS, the wheel slips and stutters and stopping distances are
longer. In fact, stopping distances can be longer in the rain than in
heavy snow. Snow offers continued resistance when stopping and also
impedes steering input due to "tracking" by the rear wheels. This is
basic driving info. I guess you're no professional.
Once again you're dead wrong, but Mooron's comment should have alerted
you.
Yous till like your boat, right???!!!

Bwahahahahahahaha!!

NYC must have some really screwed up plows!

The statement is absolutely correct. A plowed street can be worse than
unplowed, especially if there is packed ice underneath.

I have to agree with RB.

Amen!

Now Bob.... don't bait Bobsprit like that. We both know that if there is ice
under a snowfall... it's an Ice Road.... and the three requirements are to
be able to make progress, to be able to direct progress and to be able to
halt progress.

Certainly if your "SUV" has a 12" clearance and you drive into 24" of
snow.... stopping will not be an issue..... progress and direction will come
to an abrupt halt. If the same vehicle encounters a low traction area... a
simple reduction of speed will allow all three factors to be retained and
safely make directed progress

And this is where you were baited and snared, Mooron. And then Scotty
bit your tail and both of you were hauled aboard. Read my original
statement again.
Bottom line: A plowed road can be worse than 9 inches of snow,
especially for an SUV.

Not so fast there Bobsprit..... here's what you said.." And if you knew
anything about driving you might know that a plowed street can be worse than
unplowed."

Your option on an unplowed street is coming to a stop.... that's not driving
Bobsprit.. that's *parking*..... now if you had even a modicum of knowledge
in vehicle control on snow and ice.... you never would have made that
statement.

No, it's not parking. It's also slowing down, which is part of driving.
You're not just on the hook, you've eaten the rod.
Give it up. You're getting desperate and everyone can tell.
