Some of the comments on the B9 Tribeca:
" The Tribeca doesn't mind being tossed around, as reflected in its 61.2-mph slalom speed, which is faster than that of the X5 3.0i, Pilot, Murano, and even the V-8 Touareg. " M&T "The B9's braking is stellar; its 124-foot 60-to-0 is in sedan territory and beats most rival SUVs." M&T " If you love driving and have to step up from a sport sedan or roadster--and if you're going to need more room for kids and stuff--the Tribeca is a great way to go." M&T " The 2006 Subaru B9 Tribeca is an imaginative step up into the popular mid-size SUV class. Even with modest power, it delivers more than what most buyers want in a family-size sport-ute, including 7-seats, and it certainly won't get lost in a crowd. Motor Week-Car of the Month." "In typical Subaru tradition, owners are defined by their thoughts and feelings more than their possessions. Based on this, the 2006 B9 Tribeca should appeal to great number of buyers thanks to its unique, useful and versatile nature." Autoweb.com "Having seen it on the road in various environments, we think the car looks just fine. Those of us who have been in Europe lately find the styling strongly reminiscent of current Alfa Romeos." Car & Driver "The flat-six does shine at speed, however-say, when making a pass on the highway-and possesses enough power to justify the "sport" in SUV. With communicative steering, four-wheel disc brakes with ABS, and big footprints, the B9 is impressively flat through turns and treats passengers to a compliant ride that still offers enough firmness to encourage you to take the back roads to Woodstock." Car & Driver "We like this conveniently sized, distinctive-looking SUV with its flat-six engine and sensible design. It is fun to drive and easy to live with." Car & Driver "The Subaru Tribeca's interior is a stunning styling statement. Visually, and ergonomically, it's a delight. It's been a long time since we've felt so immediately comfortable climbing into a new car for the first time." -New Car Test Drive "The Tribeca delivers the combination of practicality and all-wheel-drive responsiveness that makes Subaru's other cars such worthy entries in their own segments." -AutoWeek "The interior is nice, if you keep the rearmost seat folded down. In that configuration, the B9 has lots of room behind the second-row seats, which slide back and forth to adjust legroom -- a rare feature and a treat for backseat passengers." -The Wall Street Journal "Although not aggressively bolstered, the seats are firmly supportive and produced no discomfort during an intensive drive from San Francisco to Los Angeles." -Car and Driver "With its standard 18-inch wheels, stability control and symmetrical all-wheel-drive system (under normal conditions torque is split 45/55 front to rear), the Tribeca remains composed and fun to drive over sinuous routes." M&T has alternated between loving and hating the B9. Car and Driver maintains it's among best in class. Consumer Reports gave it a "reccomended" rating...just like every other Subaru. Recently the Subaru B9 scored the best ever crash rating for an SUV of it's class. Only the MDX scored close. And now full tim AWD crossover can match it's handling according to R&T and Motor Trend. Does everyone love the B9? Nope. But the bottom line was never about the reviews...it was about driving it before we bought it and comparing to other 40K crossovers for Suzanne. Find me a crossover SUV that can match it feature for feature. You can't. RB 35s5.....best boat...best car! NY |

Compared favorably to the PONTIAC AZTEC!!!!!!!
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!! http://www.autoblog.com/entry/1234000027031003/ Reader Comments 1. Posted Feb 9, 2005, 6:03 PM ET by laserwizard Saw this vehicle in a tannish metallic in a Richmond, VA car show a few weeks ago. Ugly as sin. Looked like an Edsel SUV. 2. Posted Feb 9, 2005, 6:16 PM ET by Whydrive This is the one instance where I would prefer to see more chrome up front. 3. Posted Feb 9, 2005, 7:34 PM ET by Blake I thought it was impossible for a fish and a vacuum cleaner to have sex. This unholy offspring seems to have proven me wrong. 4. Posted Feb 10, 2005, 8:04 AM ET by Richard Durishin I'm a BIG Subie fan - on my fifth after years with BMW's before they were a LUXURY car maker. I had hoped that the Tribeca would look good in black because it sure is UGLY in the metallic sand. But the black at least in this shot makes those Aztek headlights even FUGLIER. I'm sure she drives great. Too bad about the face! 5. Posted Feb 10, 2005, 12:55 PM ET by Jeffrey I agree the sand color is terrible, and the black softens the vehicles lines, making it look bulbous. I think the other color options look good... silver, atlantic blue pearl, mahogany red and seacrest green. http://www.subdriven.com/gallery/gal...mode=album&alb. 6. Posted Mar 25, 2005, 11:46 PM ET by Tony Car is ugly. Why are they pushing this thing? The Tribeca is Aztrec ugly. They need to try harder on this one. I love Subaru but this is a mistake. 7. Posted Jun 27, 2005, 2:06 PM ET by Robbb (lol) - I love that, "Aztec Ugly". Spot-on! I'm a long time Suub owner/driver - the Wagon With All the Bumper Stickers kind, so you know which way my alignment pulls. The new Subaru 'Tri-bomination' is out, just in time for $2.50/gal gas. That's one (more)small step toward the SUV herd, one giant step backward for innovation and customer loyalty. What a rip, as well. It looks just like every other mid-size POS SUV. Betcha for '07 they go for some real brilliant new thinkin' and add a sliding door to the right passenger side. sheeesh... Who do they think they're fooling? If Subaru really wanted to expand market share, they should have looked toward the hybrids. If they could engineer the equivalent of a Toyota Prius (think awd hybrid forester) the game would be over! Scoobaru! Where are YOU?!? 8. Posted Jun 27, 2005, 2:07 PM ET by Robbb (lol) - I love that, "Aztec Ugly". Spot-on! Scoobaru! Where are YOU?!? 9. Posted Jul 27, 2005, 1:35 AM ET by Will Murray the subaru tribeca is butt ugly. Subaru makes a reliable quality automobile... but who would want to be seen riding in this horid looking thing? 10. Posted Jul 27, 2005, 2:58 PM ET by Bill Fairchild several months ago as a loyal subie owner, subaru sent me an e-mail to visit their site to see and comment on the new tribeca. i had already seen spy shots of it, but still looked at their promo. now i will never be in the market for a suv, so have no personal interest in this thing. "aztec" was the first thing that came to mind and i told subaru so. they suggested that i probably needed to see it in person. frankly, if a photo is not flattering, then it must be bad. well, last week i had to visit the dealer parts department so decided to check the tribeca out in person. this is definitely not a case of something looking better in person. i think all the aztec owners should love this thing. the subaru used car lots will be full of aztecs. when i first saw the aztec, sorry tribeca promos, i thought that the interior did look pretty good. now that i have seen one, i am not so sure. the front dash is way over the top; too curvy and sculpted for my taste. i begin to get sea sick just looking at it. i am not sure that the cockpit would be the most comfortable place to be when zooming down any choppy unpaved road or trail in the desert. the tribeca is clearly only meant for civilization and for getting you from one starbucks to the next. in fact the tribeca will only appeal to those looking for the flavor of the day; maybe of the year. it will have no staying power in this guise. p.s. have you seen the restyled wrx? these guys are acting like the general of old; just changing things to change them and rarely for the good. |

BWAHAHAHAHA! Dude. Now you're posting private posts?!!! There are
Edmund groups bashing Lexus and Infinity as well. Face it. You lost. The B9 has not only been well reviewed, it did better in safety tests than even a FULL size truck like the Tundra! It has superior handling, and more safety features for a toddler as well. It also gets 25 MPG on the highway (winter) and 23 (summer). Oh, and it's the most reliable builder according to CR. Check the owner rating at Edmunds. 9.2. Highway range is 390 miles per tank at 80 MPH. Some folks have pulled 420. The new WRX and STI have the B9 front end, but the suspension has also been improved. Sounds like someone went to the Bob Crantz School of judging cars by what others think! Seriously, Crantz, you need to DRIVE these cars before coming to a conclusion. I read some bad comments on the B9, Murano, RX330, H3 BMW X5, but I drove them because MY opinion is the one that counts. Did you know that M&T magazine has had 4 reviews on the B9, two good and two bad? It's hilarious. You clearly have no opinion of your own and must quantify and back your beliefs using the support of others when possible. As a real man, I go my own way. That's why someone like Sloco owns a Lincoln LS, a badly built Camry. That's why you own a Tundra. It's a good truck, but devoid of any character. BTW, the RX330 is another top pick for a crossover SUV. Suzanne found it skittish at higher speeds. It has poor stock rubber, still a great SUV though. Get back to me when you actually drive some cars! RB 35s5...best boat AND car on ASA! And fastest too! NY |

Seriously, Crantz, you need to DRIVE these cars before coming to a conclusion. They're not my conclusions. Why would I want to drive any of those cars? I don't care about them. I read some bad comments on the B9, Murano, RX330, H3 BMW X5, but I drove them because MY opinion is the one that counts. Why then do you use other's opinions to support your own? You clearly have no opinion of your own and must quantify and back your beliefs using the support of others when possible. I don't need an opinion of my own to troll you! Just posting someone else's makes things so easy. I would almost never give my real opinion on anything in this forum. As a real man, I go my own way. Suzanne owns the boat, right? That's why someone like Sloco owns a Lincoln LS, a badly built Camry. That's why you own a Tundra. It's a good truck, but devoid of any character. I don't own a Tundra. I don't get my identity from the vehicle I drive. It's simply transportation and a tool. I am my own man, I don't need props. That's why you'll never know about my boat. BTW, the RX330 is another top pick for a crossover SUV. Suzanne found it skittish at higher speeds. It has poor stock rubber, still a great SUV though. Top pick by who? It's got no headroom and is definitely a Toyota, you can still sense "Corolla" in it. It's a great vehicle for old ladies maybe. Get back to me when you actually drive some cars! That might be a while. My preferred mode of transportation is a bicycle. Did you know the Tribeca is a contender for Ugliest Vehicle of 2005? Admit it Bob, people either like or hate it's looks. The gas guzzling abilities of the pig is measurable fact, as is the slow acceleration and massive weight. My God! It weighs as much as a full size pick up truck and doesn't perform much better. Face it Bob, it's Subaru's version of the SUV crossover pig mobile. If that's your style I respect that because you have to live with it. It's Suzanne's money and your choice. But at least allow me to point and laugh when you drive by down the street! Bless you and Amen! RB 35s5...best boat AND car on ASA! And fastest too! NY |

What, exactly, did I lose?
Every point you've tried to make...because... That's a purely subjective rating. As are ALL ratings. No one can even agree on crash tests. A car either works for you or it doesn't. Another lie! Read the owner's forums. Lots of people reporting 22-25 MPG after break in. Locally I get just under 20 around town. That's pretty good. Admit it Bob, people either like or hate it's looks. Of course. That's another reason to like it. At least it's different. When everyone likes the looks it's called BLAND. That's why so many Acuras and Camrys sell. In person most people seem to love it. But my opinion is that I like the front end and don't like the tail. I don't get my identity from the vehicle I drive. It's simply transportation and a tool. I am my own man, I don't need props. That's what you say, but the rather dull perception here is that have no identity, though I know who you are of course. To say you get no identity from "props" is a lie on every level. You CHOOSE what's in your life, from cars to bikes and even food and that's part of who you are. Unless you're about to claim that you make no choices on your own. Based on your reliance on reviews, that may be the case. Top pick by who? By me, I drove one for two weeks and I really liked it. Quick, solid and agile with a very sweet interior. I prefer the ride on the B9 by a small margin. Some of these cars lose out because the cabins are too small for my height. That killed the Murano and MDX for example. Suzanne's money and your choice. My father and I bought her the B9 for her graduation. Even in heavy snow she must show up for work. Since the Outback was unstoppable in the snow the B9 was a logical step up. At the same time she wanted something smaller than a full size SUV...not a truck. The B9 feels like a car because that's really what it is. And so...as I said....you lost. And since the B9, 35s5 and everything that goes on here is presented by me for a reason you well know...the hoops are also mine! And that's why you lost. As in the "other" thread, you may have the last words awarded to any foe so mortally wounded. I'm outa da thread, so enjoy that last gasp! Hoooh ahhhhh! RB 35s5 NY |

They are an extension of me, they are not used to create an image, as a prop does. Even the prop on your boat is inadequate. Unless you're about to claim that you make no choices on your own. Based on your reliance on reviews, that may be the case. Top pick by who? By me, I drove one for two weeks and I really liked it. Another lie! How did you get the car for two weeks when so few are in the country? Quick, solid and agile with a very sweet interior. I prefer the ride on the B9 by a small margin. I lived there for over 2 decades and the amount of snowfall in those two decades is less than one month where I live now. My car is front wheel drive with good tires (a Ford Maverick driven in reverse!). Are you sure the B9 is up to it? Maybe spiked tires might help. And so...as I said....you lost. And since the B9, 35s5 and everything that goes on here is presented by me for a reason you well know...the hoops are also mine! Are they flaming hoops? And that's why you lost.
