Some of the comments on the B9 Tribeca:
" The Tribeca doesn't mind being tossed around, as reflected in its
61.2-mph slalom speed, which is faster than that of the X5 3.0i, Pilot,
Murano, and even the V-8 Touareg. " M&T
"The B9's braking is stellar; its 124-foot 60-to-0 is in sedan
territory and beats most rival SUVs." M&T
" If you love driving and have to step up from a sport sedan or
roadster--and if you're going to need more room for kids and stuff--the
Tribeca is a great way to go." M&T
" The 2006 Subaru B9 Tribeca is an imaginative step up into the popular
mid-size SUV class. Even with modest power, it delivers more than what
most buyers want in a family-size sport-ute, including 7-seats, and it
certainly won't get lost in a crowd. Motor Week-Car of the Month."
"In typical Subaru tradition, owners are defined by their thoughts and
feelings more than their possessions. Based on this, the 2006 B9
Tribeca should appeal to great number of buyers thanks to its unique,
useful and versatile nature." Autoweb.com
"Having seen it on the road in various environments, we think the car
looks just fine. Those of us who have been in Europe lately find the
styling strongly reminiscent of current Alfa Romeos." Car & Driver
"The flat-six does shine at speed, however-say, when making a pass on
the highway-and possesses enough power to justify the "sport" in
SUV. With communicative steering, four-wheel disc brakes with ABS, and
big footprints, the B9 is impressively flat through turns and treats
passengers to a compliant ride that still offers enough firmness to
encourage you to take the back roads to Woodstock." Car & Driver
"We like this conveniently sized, distinctive-looking SUV with its
flat-six engine and sensible design. It is fun to drive and easy to
live with." Car & Driver
"The Subaru Tribeca's interior is a stunning styling statement.
Visually, and ergonomically, it's a delight. It's been a long time
since we've felt so immediately comfortable climbing into a new car for
the first time."
-New Car Test Drive
"The Tribeca delivers the combination of practicality and
all-wheel-drive responsiveness that makes Subaru's other cars such
worthy entries in their own segments."
-AutoWeek
"The interior is nice, if you keep the rearmost seat folded down. In
that configuration, the B9 has lots of room behind the second-row
seats, which slide back and forth to adjust legroom -- a rare feature
and a treat for backseat passengers."
-The Wall Street Journal
"Although not aggressively bolstered, the seats are firmly supportive
and produced no discomfort during an intensive drive from San Francisco
to Los Angeles."
-Car and Driver
"With its standard 18-inch wheels, stability control and symmetrical
all-wheel-drive system (under normal conditions torque is split 45/55
front to rear), the Tribeca remains composed and fun to drive over
sinuous routes."
M&T has alternated between loving and hating the B9. Car and Driver
maintains it's among best in class. Consumer Reports gave it a
"reccomended" rating...just like every other Subaru. Recently the
Subaru B9 scored the best ever crash rating for an SUV of it's class.
Only the MDX scored close. And now full tim AWD crossover can match
it's handling according to R&T and Motor Trend.
Does everyone love the B9? Nope. But the bottom line was never about
the reviews...it was about driving it before we bought it and comparing
to other 40K crossovers for Suzanne. Find me a crossover SUV that can
match it feature for feature. You can't.
