Boat Wanted
"Capt. Rob" wrote in message oups.com... I think you know what a swim platform is. A powerboat feature, generally. Don't be silly. Plenty of sailboats now have swim platforms integrated just like the 35s5. RB 35s5 NY Yup. Sailboat are resembling their powered cousins more and more. There is a 380 Catalina hereabouts with a swiveling helm chair. You should consider one of those, Bubbles. Max |

"Capt. Rob" wrote in message oups.com... 35s5--only a Yugo is better value :Chantiers Beneteau Golly, Maxipad....you already said you like the boat. You're as bad at this as Jeff. RB 35s5--biggest goddam swim platform this side of Texas, bar hell. :Chantiers Beneteau NY I like the 35s5 just fine. Since you seem to be clueless, Bubbles, I'll spell it out for you: it's not your boat I'm jousting with, it's your hubris. Humility is an endearing characteristic. You might wish to give it a try. "Capt. Rob" wrote in message ups.com... Doug...not ONE of those boats listed matched or even came close to the criteria I listed. no swim platforms OH MY GOD!!! NO SWIM PLATFORMS!!! My friend has a 5 and 1 year old. The swim platform is fantastic for them. It's also great for dinghy use. No reason not to have it. My lovely CCA-style boat has a low freeboard alongside the cockpit. My 3 y.o. grandson can easily slip over the side into the dink. And we lift my 1 y.o. grandson in with ease. Swim platforms are for power boats and floating docks. g Max |

"Steve Thomas" wrote in message .. . FYI, our next boat could very well be a 45f5...but that's 4-5 years off at least. This is plenty of boat for us now. RB 35s5 NY If you are going to dream of owing a superior production boat, you should take a look at what Swan builds. Oh no, Steve--Bubbles has shown us all just how his Beneteau is considerably superior to Nautor Swan and other like products. Just ask him. Max |

A Swan for local daysailing and weekend cruises on the Sound? Yeah, sure. That makes sense. About as much sense as Jeff's PDQ. Bubbles: "Wow, just look at the idiot sailing that Swan. What a waste. Dumb *******." Swan skipper: "Hmm. A Bendy 35 over there . . . poor *******." Max |

You can lift a 1 y.o. into anything with ease. The sugar scoop stern (racer)aka swim platform (cruiser) is here to stay. Kinda wish I had one. Gaz |

"Capt. Rob" wrote in message oups.com... Would you really go swimming in the LIS? gross. Swimming in the LIS off a boat is safe and clean. Swimming on beaches is less lean due to sediment contamination. This is one of the reasons we wanted the swim platform as it's a great way to get Thomas acclimated to the water with a higher degree of safety. After performance and the generous cockpit, many owners say the swim platform is a favorite feature. Francis Chichester, upon returning to England after having spent a night in a port on LIS remarked, (not an exact quote) 'The Americans have such a wonderful sailing ground there, but they've turned it into a cesspool. How unfortunate.' I believe he made that remark in the 50s or 60s. Max |

Anyone who has stood long watches helming would thing that
a good idea. I've used spinnakers for padding to give my back a break. I'd rate a comfortable helm seat high on my list of priorities. "Maxprop" wrote Yup.
