exist OUTside the Matrix. And of course they all cost actual

Doug...not ONE of those boats listed matched or even came close to the
criteria I listed. Either no aft cabins, no swim platforms and so on.
Good work, Doug.
You proved my point. The 35s5 (at the time of her design) was a rare
combo of features and speed. Nowadays such a boat is a lot easier to
find...for about twice the price. C&C and Kirie were among the very few
other contenders.
The 35s5 is essentially umatched for her speed and accomodation, unless
you spend much more. I bet there's some odd make boats out there that
can do the same...but not easy to find, buy or resell.
Thanks again for making my point!

Yes they did.

... Either no aft cabins

You want a center cockpit boat?

... no swim platforms

Every last one had at least a ladder & platform, some had
open transoms and/or scoops. Every last one was
significantly faster.

Good work, Doug.

Thank you

You proved my point.

That you're a lying blowhard who doesn't actually have a boat?

Sorry, doug. I think you know what a swim platform and aft cabin is. My
35s5 has them. In addition that some of the boats you listed were
outside of the size range or older than I specified, so let's try again
and see if you follow these VERY simple parameters:

Fast 34-36 footer (PHRF below 135 or better)
Shallow draft under 5 feet
Good sized cockpit (Say 7 feet or better long)
Swim platform (Not a ladder, a real platform)
NIce interior for weekend trips or even longer. (Not like the hideous
Frers you linked)
Aft cabin required (A cabin aft with a door, Doug)
Sleeping quarters big enough for tall folks (Hard to find. Should be
at least one double near 7')
Good resale value
Not older than say 1985 (obvious)
Price range 50-75K

So try again, Doug and try not to make up a new defintion for swim
platform or aft cabin. The only boat on your list we considered was the
CS 36...a nice boat, but short bunks, no swim platform and tough to
find. We looked at one.

Go ahead...list em!

Lovely Scandinavian
http://yachtworld.com/core/listing/p...hecked_boats=1...

Tiny sleep quarters, no swim platform, no aft cabin, teak decks are a
no-no on a boat this old. PHRF is about the same here.

http://yachtworld.com/core/listing/p...hecked_boats=1...

CS 36 was a contender, but the lack of swim platform and generic
appearance turned us off. Nice boat though. Close to same speed but
certainly not faster with SK.

Slightly snazzier version, slightly cheaper too

As above....rates 136 PHRF with wing

We already did. The interior is even worse than the pics suggest. You

Donal....I like your boat a lot, but they don't cost 57K or even 75K
here. The 35s5 (which cost 57K) gives us plenty of speed and an
interior that fits us a bit better. If racing was higher on my list, a
33.7 might have been considered more. Also, the small performance gain
for the 33.7 here seems to run hand in hand with a near 7 foot draft
which doesn't work for us. The standard draft 33.7 rates 129 just like
the 35s5 WK in many areas. Finally, there's the US quality factor on
the interior to contend with. Based on my conversations with dealers I
won't but a newer US built boat from Beneteau. As I think I mentioned,
our interior was not built here.
FYI, our next boat could very well be a 45f5...but that's 4-5 years off
at least. This is plenty of boat for us now.

Swimming in the LIS off a boat is safe and clean. Swimming on beaches
is less lean due to sediment contamination. This is one of the reasons
we wanted the swim platform as it's a great way to get Thomas
acclimated to the water with a higher degree of safety. After
performance and the generous cockpit, many owners say the swim platform
is a favorite feature.

And for race boats that want a little extra waterline and for protecting

Francis Chichester, upon returning to England after having spent a night in
a port on LIS remarked, (not an exact quote) 'The Americans have such a
wonderful sailing ground there, but they've turned it into a cesspool. How
unfortunate.' I believe he made that remark in the 50s or 60s.
