About the only use for CNG here is buses and forklifts. Natural gas is piped into most homes here and factories with high use CNG put in a compressor to compress the NG into a liquid for refills. The tech may get into homes, but it'll take a big cut in the cost of compressors seeing that LPG is available at most servos these days. there's even 'gas stations' in most cities that sell CNG at the pump ( for CNG cars).
