Yeah, sailing up here sucks. What route did you use to get to the
Charlottes?

Got on a trip years ago with a buddy I met up with in Prince Rupert. It was
on a Gozzard 36. Really nice boat!
I think we had 1 day out of 10 that it didn't rain! :-)

The west coast is an eye candy wonderland.... I love it there but I agree
about the light winds inside.

Okay???

BTW - You're in Victoria?.... is there a Dr. D. Kinloch from up Yellowknife
way at your club with a 34 Allberg?? He had a beautiful 22' Allberg in
Yellowknife and won the majority of the Wednesday night races with it.

Not in our club. I'm in the Navy club. he may belong to one of the
many other local clubs. Are you friends?

I spent last summer cruising in the Charlottes and will be sailing back
up there this coming summer for a couple months. I was being facetious
when I said the sailing sucks. I love it. The winds can be flukey in
the summer on the inside, but they are howling northwesters on the
outside. It is a great run down from Alaska or the Charlottes to Juan
de Fuca about 100 miles offshore. 3 or 4 days of spinnaker.

The thing I like most is the abundance of stuff you can eat out of the
water and off the land. It is very heart warming to know that there are
places you can still survive easily.

Yeah.... he and his wife are real nice people and very good sailors. Lost
touch when he retired to Victoria... I know he was looking at an Allberg 30
something.

I'd love to do that run. I have never sailed the west side of Vancouver nor
much north of Texada.

Same thing here on the East Coast... you can live off the sea easily. The
water is clean and deep blue... I sail near Peggy's Cove and the
Southwestern Shore Mahone Bay, Chester and Lunenburg.

We tried Prawn Traps last summer off of Bowen... but we lost every one of
them..... H-m-m-m-m-m... were you in the area :-) I'm figurin' the log booms
scooped them.

The West Coast of VI is real open ocean sailing. It's best coming over
the top and south. The beat up the straits sucks. North of Texada
(Desolation Sound) is power boat country. A zillion of our southern
cousins and their gin palaces who have run up from Seattle for the warm
water and wilderness. They don't go west because it's too rough.

Traps are attractive. I have spent some time at sea around Halifax and
the south shore (Navy) but not sailing. I have been out here on the west
coast for a long time now (and luvin' it).

Certainly.... mention Yellowknife and Overproof. It's Dr. David Kinloch.

Shearwater... I did some engineering work around there... they upgraded the
diving area. Nice sail club they have.

Yeah, you'd Connie would have at least read the poster's

about

I assume other posters realize my comment related to the

Well, Duh!
