For the past 3 years, our First 35s5 has been experiencing a strong diesel smell in the forward locker. I have spent many hours searching for either a tiny leak in the fuel tank, or a pinhole in either the filler hose or in the vent hose, or loose hose clamps. The vent hose for the forward tank had a very strong odor. Even when I touched the hose with my hand, I would get a strong diesel smell. This original vent hose was made of black rubber with the marking 150 W.P. on the side. Our local hose and fittings company informed us that this was the wrong type of hose to use with diesel, and that it would allow for fumes to permeate into the locker and into the cabin. I immediately replaced it with an updated, higher quality 3 ply wire reinforced hose, (GREENLINE J1527 A1 5/8" ID). TRIDENT also makes a recommended replacement hose. I also replaced the 2 1/8" ID fuel filler hose at the same time |
