"Jeff Morris" wrote in message For all the nonsense about "strict laws," the Massachusetts law, considered the strictest in the country, simply prevents convicted felons and patients of mental institutions from buying a handgun. The license also requires a simple safety certificate, and is processed through the local police department. Unless you're a felon or mentally ill, its easier than getting a driver's license. That's a load of **** Jeff..... we've had registration in Canada for 20 years on handguns and automatic weapons.... it never stopped the criminals. Now only law abiding people have to pay upwards of $200 to own a firearm... let alone the fees to use one. The criminals on the other hand now have access to whatever they want and I just don't think they bother with registration. So what's the big deal? Are you claiming gun control is bad because felons can't get assault weapons? Mental patients can't get machine guns? What's the issue here? It's all crap... mental patients will inded get guns because background checks are faulty... it happens up here all the time. Criminals now have an easier time getting weapons. Only the law abiding are left defenceless. heh, heh, if only the truth be known ... but I can say no more The truth is Jeff... that pot smoking does NOT lead to crack cocaine... no more than having a beer leads to being an alcoholic..... and that's a fact. Its even lower than in Massachusetts. How do you explain that? So what's the big deal? Are you claiming gun control is bad because felons can't get assault weapons? You are softer than puppy ****, holly. Do you think I don't know the population of the city I've lived in all my life? Do you think you can just make up a bogus number and I wouldn't notice? The latest estimate (2003) is 581,616 http://www.census.gov/popest/cities/...EST2003-01.pdf |

I know you're too stupid to look up the real numbers, but didn't you think I would? Alaska has a higher than average murder rate, more than triple the rate of Massachusetts. That's bull****. Alaska has less people than Boston. The word was RATE Holly! Well duh. If a village population has 200 people and one gets murdered, the murder rate is astronomically higher than even NYC or Washington, DC. Rates mean very little when presented completely out of context or with no common frame of reference. And what context are the rates "taken out of"? Its true that the murder rate in Alaska fluctuates more than other state due to the limited sampling, but even with that, its above average almost every year. There's nothing wrong with the method, the rates are high. You can attribute that to a variety of causes, but the numbers are real. Are you implying that one has a greater chance of being murdered in Alaska than say, NYC? Take a course in statistics and get back to me on that, Jeff. Max Max |
