But in many cases, the U.S. military expends huge amounts of manpower fixing things that ain't broke, taking apart things just so it can be checked off and put back together. several years ago, my son did his engineering internship for the USN, developing software that analyzed vibration of various on-board machinery in an effort to provide data via non-invasive means.
