Right for once. It's presently in my garage being refinished. You do know
what a garage is don't you? Even though you don't have one.

I own and rent out a three story house in Brooklyn, dummy! My MG is kept in the
garage there and there is also a garage here in the building for our two cars.
You lose AGAIN!!!

them non cruisers.

Steel handholds integrated with virtually every bit of furniture including
tables, sink, dinette and so on!? - what?

Never seen that. It must be attractive.

It's really nicely done. A well liked feature of many 80's C&Cs. You don't know
about it because you don't know boats.

RB

Bobsprit October 20th 04 01:19 AM

So how many Express 30s have you shown?

None and I've only ever seen TWO in 10 years. The captain of the J30 I sail
often joked (after seeing one) that he was glad of a boat uglier than his 30!

RB

Scott Vernon October 20th 04 02:20 AM

Speaking of which, hadn't the jackass claimed he already had Alien
sold? Course he claimed to own a new boat already. Oh what a tangled
web.

Damn shame MP. My Beemer days ended when three idiots put me in the
hospital three times in one year. Nothing to do with the bike just got
disgusted over idito drivers who couldn't see bright yellow etc. even if
they bothered to look. The culprits, all whom statedthey 'didn't see me?
Fell into three categories 1) too damn old to be driving 2) too young

and
too busy fiddling with make up 3) John Rocker's favorite an oriental with

a
cellphone. Come to think of the exact same categories that caused most of
the problems when I was flagging traffic.

I don't plan to quit riding, but I do watch out for 1) gray hair, 2) young,
farding (applying makeup) women, and 3) ANYONE with a cell phone glued to
his/her ear. Farmers in old beater pickups are another stay-clear item.
I've been riding for roughly 40 years with no accidents outside of a
racetrack. Guess I'm just paranoid enough to stay alive.

Sorry to hear about your accidents. I had three auto accidents--none my
fault--which made me think twice about riding my bike for a while. I don't
blame you a bit for your decision.

Nutsy,

You may know of long distance sailors but I dought very much that they
know of you.
Those Long distance delivery guys are always looking for crew to sail
with them. Experienced deep water sailors that will sail any or all
parts of the trip. Usually who will sail for free. That way the skipper
can keep more of the fee.

If you knew any of them you would have had plenty of offshore time by
now

Cataline and Hunter were tuned into making boats that people wanted. Companies
like C&C and Express failed to do the same. Still, it was a massive fire that
finished C&C for good. Express failed outright because the boats were just not
that appealing.

Massive fire....Bwaaahahahahahahaahahahahhaaaa!
So easy to do with a hot resin and nothing suspicious.

Nice try, Ozzy, but you might try knowing what you're talking about from time
to time. C&C didn't recover even half of the insurance and they did try to
restart.
Here are the facts..

In 1989, Brian was forced out of C&C by the main share holder of the limited
partnership and replaced by Bob Stubing. Bob’s intial thinking was to close
the company down, but after becoming enamored with the industry, he tried to
keep it going. Unfortunately, by the middle of 1990, bank pressures forced the
close of C&C.

After 14 months, C&C was finally sold to Anthony Koo and Frank Chow of Wa Kwang
Shipping, which was at one time the fifth largest shipping company in the
world. The new company, C&C Yachts International, started out with grand plans.
In no time, they had production of a 51 and an IMS 45, including an endorsement
from Dennis Conner. By 1994, things had turned around so much that the plant
had trouble keeping up with sales. In addition, C&C Yachts International
acquired SR sailboats of Florida, a line of sport boats that proved to be
fierce competitors in racing.

In April of 1994, C&C was devastated by a fire that destroyed 40 molds, three
51 boats that were in production, the factory, the boat building records,
plans, etc. They tried to recover, but ultimately failed. Insurance only paid a
portion of the total loss, and C&C tried to resume production, only to find the
recovery cost was too much and closed the factory in August 1996.

RB

RB

Bobsprit October 20th 04 12:34 PM

Yep, a good fire is a great way to get rid of obsolete moulds or ones
that are damaged and show star crazing in the finished boat.

You mean obsolete molds like the new ones that burned?
Good one, Ozzy. Top of the class....right along with Loco.

Nope, but I broker boats

Do you require a licence to hold yourself out as a Broker in the US, how about surveyers, must they be licenced?

Cheers
Marty

Bobsprit October 20th 04 01:11 PM

Yep, even new mould can be obsolete designs.
Just how many hulls do you think you can pull out of each mould before
it no longer produces a good finish?

NEW hull molds burned. The boats that came out of them are still commanding
heavy prices today and compete well with the new C&Cs. But they were obsolete,
right. Boats like the mid 90's 36XL might have kept C&C alive.
Now you're at the HEAD of the class!

RB

Bobsprit October 20th 04 01:19 PM

Anyone can sell boats. But to survey for insurance companies requires
affiliation with one of several surveyor orgs. Even then only certain groups
are accepted by BoatUS, while Travelers Yacht Insurance has different criteria.
Most insurance surveyors lack the detailed knowledge to fully and properly
survey sailboats and many avoid sailboats altogether. There's a bunch of guys
running around with moitsure meters and Costco tools calling themselves
surveyors. Pretty common. My good friend only does sailboats and conducts brand
specific surveys after researching a models. Very nice.
