Today was sunny but about 54 at the most and the winds were quite
stiff...about 20 with gusts...the Big lake was running heavy with white caps
and pounding surf...we're sailing tomorow (today) when it lays down
some...rest of the week is supposed to be a gradual warming trend into the
60's again...the leaves have just started to turn, but we're supposed to
have first frost tonight, so the maples will redden up for next week...we
drove up to Frankfort today for lunch...was a beautiful day for a drive and
took a hike up to the lookout platform on the dunes between Arcadia and
Frankfurt...was mighty cold up there and I wish I had taken my camera
along...

the hippies place was this hole in the wall ice cream parlor on city island
back in the 70's
it was located approx. where remy's shop is now.

we used to ride out there on our big fat noisy motorcycles, girlfriends on
the back of course.

the special ice cream was something called the "deep throat"

the story is that they ran this shop to rebuild the "freeedom sloop" to
pursue a world tour.
well...........one night it became obivious that they were going to be
raided by the police(everybody was doing what everybody did back then)
and they left thru the back door..............customers still in the parlor
boarded they're old wooden piece of junk and set sail for they're ocean
voyage and set off down hell's gate for the open ocean

as i understand it, the "freedom sloop for jesus" sunk off the coast of
brooklyn..............never to be seen again.
the ice cream parlor was shut down by US marshalls
and city island has never been the same again..............

sweat it? not likely.
hey if i misunderstood everyone's idea of fun ...........well ok
but it is strange

I'll explain the routine. bob lies about something, then gets called
on it, so he makes up another lie to cover the first one. It goes like
this for a while. Then when too many refute his lies and he appears
as stupid as one can get, he jumps up and yells 'TROLL'.
It's kinda fun , in a sick sort of way, to watch him squirm and weave
his lies, though sometimes bob gets a little too serious and starts
with the NYC foul mouth routine.

welcome to ASAsailing

Here in Ottawa we are enjoying a wonderful Fall,,
sailed all day on Friday.. on the Ottawa River..
underwarm and sunny skies.. one tack up and one tack
back.

Rain did come but stopped at day break.

no
i saw the photo you posted.
curved glass is an event to produce.
it is also takes $ (many of them)

i've only had the oppurtunity to design/specify curved glass on a landmark
restoration project once before.

My favorite sailboat is the C&C27 Mark III..
a racer cruiser.. with a 37 foot mast..
equiped with Hood Sails the boat is a dream to sail..
I often sail singlehanded.. and in heavy winds
sail with mainsail only..

Fall and a front is coming through, not a Summer
storm. BIG difference.

Yep, the summer storms come up faster and are more violent. These fall storms
are pretty light stuff.

Hey you could always "grab" a mooring as you sail upwind under bare
poles if it gets too strong! ;-)

Cheers
